Best Recipe Pizza Dough
With recipe pizza dough, you’ll be making your own mouth-watering pies in no time.
TRIVIA: Pizza was introduced to North America following World War 11. Returning soldiers brought with them a fondness for this Italian delicacy.
My own first experience with pizza can only be called a disaster. As a teenager, I read about pizza and begged my mother to make one. A good British cook, my mom was less than impressed with this request. The resulting gooey mess taught me not to beg for her version of recipe pizza dough again.
Needless to say, I won't be giving you my mother's recipe!
For optimal results, bake your pizza on a pizza stone. This makes a HUGE difference in the crispiness and texture of your recipe pizza dough. You can even remove a pizza stone from the oven and take it right to the table.

Recipe Pizza Dough
4 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose white flour
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup olive oil
2 pkg dry yeast
1 1/2 cup warm water
2 tsp brown sugar
Add brown sugar to ½ cup warm water, and stir. Dissolve yeast water and set aside until it is bubbly – about five minutes.
Sift 4 cups of flour and salt together. Make a dent in the middle, and add ¾ of the olive oil and 1 cup of warm water. Add yeast. Mix.
Turn dough onto floured kneading surface for about ten minutes, or until dough becomes elastic. Add more flour if necessary.
Rub the insides of a bowl with the remaining olive oil. Place dough in bowl, turning to coat with oil. Cover, and let rise in a warm place until double in bulk. This takes about 1 ½ hours or more.
Divide risen dough in half, and put one half onto a floured surface. Roll into a circle. Repeat with second ball.
Place recipe pizza dough on a baking stone that you have sprinkled with cornmeal. Form a small rim around the outer ring of the pizza dough to hold in filling ingredients. Brush the inside of the circle with olive oil. Allow to sit and rise a little bit before you add filling.
Add filling to recipe pizza dough as desired. You know what you like -- get creative with pizza sauce, vegetables, meats, mushrooms, seafoods, sun dried tomatoes, and of course cheese. A mozzarella/parmemsan mixture is good.
Place in hot oven and cook until recipe pizza dough is cooked and cheese has melted.
