Web's Best Recipe Beer Bread: A Bread Recipe Made with Beer

Recipe beer bread is popular in many countries and comes in many varieties.

Trivia: Beer baking and bread making are believed to have been around for many civilizations. It is likely that one is a byproduct of the other.

And now for your beer bread recipes:

Recipe Beer Bread #1: Bread Machine Beer Bread

1/4 cup water
2/3 cup beer
4 tsp oil
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
Optional but recommended: Bread Dough Enhancer. Use per manufacturer's instructions.

Place all liquid ingredients into the bread machine pan. Add flour, then other dry ingredients. Set Machine for Dough. Remove dough from machine when it beeps. Place into buttered loaf pan and rise for two hours. Bake recipe beer bread in preheated oven at 350 F, OR bake in your bread machine.

Recipe Beer Bread #2: German Rye Beer Bread

1 pkg dry yeast
1 12-oz can warm beer
cup warm water
2 tsp salt
2 cup rye flour
3 cup unbleached flour
2 tbsp caraway seeds
Optional but recommended: Bread Dough Enhancer. Use per manufacturer's instructions.

Put water and yeast for recipe beer bread in large bowl. Stand for five minutes, then add the warm beer. Add rye flour, beat until smooth. Add caraway seeds. Cover bowl, and let dough rise for 1 hours. Beat down and add salt and unbleached flour slowly. Mix and knead. Add additional flour to the board if dough is too sticky. Place dough in greased bowl and let rise until doubled. Punch down and shape into 2 rolls. Place in two greased loaf pans.

Brush loaves of recipe beer bread with 1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tsp water. Make slashes in bread inch deep and stand for 10 mins. Place in pre-heated 35- F oven. Bake 15 minutes then increase heat to 400 F and continue baking for another 25 minutes. Remove from oven; cool in pans for ten minutes then turn onto wire rack to continue cooling.

Recipe Beer Bread #3: Basic Beer Quick Bread

3 cups unsifted flour 3 3/4 tsp baking powder
2 1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp honey
12 oz beer

Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease loaf pan. Combine all ingredients in bowl, and mix well. Spread batter in pan and take until wooden pick in center comes out clean. (About 45 minutes).

Tip: Add variety by including ingredients such as grated parmesan cheese, basil, dried Italian herbs, a bit of cornmeal, shredded Cheddar cheese, onion flakes, toasted sesame seeds, dry mustard (use sparingly).
