Cheddar Quick Bread Recipe
Ingredients
2 cups of flour
2 teaspoons of sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/4 cups of butter, refrigerated
2 cups cheddar cheese, sharp and grated
1 cup of milk
1 egg, beaten
Directions
Oil or grease your 9 inch by 5 inch loaf pan. Preheat the oven to 400 °F.
In a large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients.
Using forks, knives or a pastry cutter, cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients. Continue cutting until you have large crumbs.
Stir in the grated cheese.
Mix the milk and egg together in a separate bowl. Add these wet ingredients to your batter. Stir to combine but do not over stir. The batter should be barely moistened.
Place the batter into our loaf pan and place in oven. Bake for three quarters of an hour or until done. The quick bread is done when a tester or toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean and dry.
Enjoy this cheddar quick bread with butter or by itself. Try it with a slice of cheese for a double cheesey treat.
