Applesauce Loaf Bread Recipe

Ingredients

1 3/4 cup stirred cake and pastry flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon allspice
1/2 cup shortening (or margarine or butter)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup unsweetened applsauce (recipe below)

Method

Preheat your oven to 350 °F.

Prepare the applesauce. Peel, core and quarter two medium-large cooking apples. Place them in a pot, add 1/2 cup water and cover. Cook unti tender,then beat until smooth. Cool.

Sift all dry ingredients together. In a separate bowl, cream the sugar and shortening together. Beat in the eggs and vanilla for three or four minutes. It helps if you have good mixer like the KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers. This powerhouse also has a dough hook for your other bread making tasks.

Fold in the dry ingredients alternately with the applesauce, folding in by batches of thirds. Pour this into a greased, standard sized loaf pan with waxed paper on the bottom (or use a non-stick pan).

Bake for fifty minutes, or until done. Cool your applsauce loaf cake on a wire rack.

This quick bread recipe is moist and delicious.
